my parents were "punked" last night

These are students from NWU. I really only know the one on the bottom, but he is a good friend.

As the loving daughter that I am, I decided to entertain my parents a little...far far away from smacking distance...They have Skype and so do I so I video cammed them and Paula gave me her wedding ring...This was an Ulrich approved prank by the way...they actually got popcorn and were sitting in the same room out of the way of the camera...snickering might i add...so i told my mother that I was engaged and showed her the ring...I wish we recorded it so you could all see her face...it was wonderful...I told her it was this guy i met in the clinic and that he was really nice and he asked me and i said yes. She was like, "What!??" and of course the Ulrich's are in the background laughing and Mom was like, "Is this a joke??" Then the Ulrich's came out and all laughed, but i still had to actually tell her it was a joke, because i think she was really confused.
Then my dad came home with Rebecca. So i had Mom play along with my joke...haha Dad looked at me through the camera and actually walked away...and Rebecca just stared with her mouth hanging open...then Dad came back and said, "Why on Earth did he ask you??!" So then i said JUST KIDDING! I think my dad was going to have a heart attack so i figured it was best to come clean at that point...so the Ulrich's once again laughed and laughed at the expense of my family across the ocean....good thing they were across the ocean...i probably would have died...
But what made this work out the best is that when i started helping in the clinic and still today there have been several guys that asked me out...it's very funny...Tim and Paula told me I should ask my parents what my bride price is (how many cows they want for me) or Lobola...so I already talked to them about all these guys...it was very funny....

This is hilarious Veronica! I am sure all the AH students will miss you after you leave in a week.

That settles it. You are absolutely never allowed to talk to Blayney again. You are quite clearly a bad influence. You made me and Anne laugh hard and you made a knot form in our stomachs too. Are you sure you dare to come home now? You know of course that you have just thrown down the gauntlet for your folks to get you back. We may help them brainstorm because this progeny rebellion must be stopped!!

HA! HA! That is one of the best pranks I have ever heard of! Good job!

Okay child! Now you've gone too far... how many cows eh! Well we don't need anymore, being that we have had many as a result of your "prank." Larry, we'll take you up on that brainstorming. I'll have extra time with Anne during the women's retreat to think of a doozy! Actually, I'm sure Rebecca will be in on it as well, as in her own words you "freaked her out." I'm sure it won't take much convincing Blayney to be in on it, as you have made quite clear to her parents of the most unfavorable character trait that is now apparent to us. And to think we trusted the Ulrich's with our first born? HUH! It will take some time to rebuild what has been lost, but we will get through this. And of course as any good christian will agree, plotting worthwhile revenge brings healing... : ) Love your mother

We are taking applications for other eligible ladies (regardless of age) who need an African husband. American wives command HIGH bride prices--probably over 20 cows just to begin with!!

We thought this was better than the "We Have Adopted African Twins" from our last African adventure.

Very 'funny' story. Just in time for Halloween! Grandma and I are still laughing. I'm trying to get a letter in the Mail Guardian in Johannesburg. It's tough, though. See you soon. Much love!

Haha. That's hilarious. I couldn't picture your dad upset. I wish I could have seen it. I'll have to visit the church once you get back so that I can hear about everything. To "vrasmom," I live at college. I could help you come up with some really good pranks ^_^ We need to talk hehe
